Introduction

I can see this meal from Freshly being one of the more popular ones. It has steak, mashed potatoes, and greens. What more can you ask for? Is it worth a try though? Let’s find out!

Summary: Freshly's Steak Peppercorn

Overall, Freshly’s Peppercorn Steak was a decent meal. Everything has good flavor but the mashed potatoes are similar to powder ones you find at the store. There was nothing in this meal that blew me away. Microwaving a steak meal probably isn’t the best idea either.

Heating Directions

Since there is no cooking involved, here are the heating instructions from the meal:

  1. Remove sleeve and peel corner of film to vent.

  2. Microwave for 3 min and 30 sec. (based on 1100 watt microwave).

  3. Let stand for 2 min.

  4. Carefully peel back film to remove.

  5. Our chefs suggest plating your meal before enjoying. (I won’t be plating but it’s ultimately up to you!)

Impressions & Taste

Upon first glance, the portions seem very small. Given that each meal is one serving, this is acceptable. If you’re sharing with someone, it might not be enough. On the other hand, the meal itself looks and smells very appetizing.

Starting with the veggies, they’re well seasoned and cooked just enough to still give a crunch. The mashed potatoes are creamy and flavorful with bits of potato here and there. It does leave a small powdery aftertaste but nothing too bad.

As for the steak, it is pretty hard to cut in the container so plating might be a good idea. After cutting, the steak seems to be cooked medium-rare but lacks some juice to it. It’s flavorful when eaten with mash potatoes. The peppercorns add a nice zing as well.

Overall, Freshly’s Peppercorn Steak was a decent meal. Everything has good flavor but the mashed potatoes are similar to powder ones you find at the store. There was nothing in this meal that blew me away. Microwaving a steak meal probably isn’t the best idea either.
